Dear Neighbor,
On
behalf of the Walnut Hill Church congregation and our
pastor, Reverend Dr. Mike Ward, I would like to invite you
and your family to join us Sunday October 7, 2007 as we
celebrate World Communion Sunday. Established in the early
20th
century and
celebrated by several denominations in the United States
and overseas, World Communion Sunday celebrates Christians’
common belief in the life and teachings of Jesus
Christ.
To help us celebrate the occasion will be Reverend Carlos
Malave. He will give a talk at 9:30 a.m. entitled,
“Ecumenism: Possibilities and Prospects”. Then he will
deliver the sermon during our worship service at 11:00 a.m.
Immediately after the service there will be a reception
open to all.
Walnut Hill Church has deep roots in the Presbyterian
Church, having been established as such in 1785. We have
also enjoyed a long and close alliance with the Episcopal
Church. Now with a distinctively ecumenical mission, we
welcome persons of all faiths. Moreover, we encourage
understanding among all Christian denominations, as well as
among persons of all religious traditions.
Please join us
Sunday, October 7th,
as we celebrate our common ground in the work and teachings
of Jesus Christ. If your schedule doesn’t permit a visit
that Sunday, we hope you will join us at another time.
Enclosed is a brochure with more information. We also have
a website, www.walnuthillchurchky.org, where you can sample
some Sunday sermons and learn more about the history and
activities of Walnut Hill Church.
Respectfully,
Linda Talbott
